From margin to mainstream: disability in business at the ILO GBDN conference

Group photo of participants at the ILO Global Business and Disability Network conference in Geneva. Over 60 people from various countries, including persons with disabilities, gathered in the ILO conference room.

This year’s International Day of Persons with Disabilities had a truly international feel — thanks to our participation in the annual ILO Global Business and Disability Network conference, held on 27–28 November in Geneva. The theme: “From Margin to Mainstream: Disability in Business.”

This conference is always a unique opportunity to explore global best practices in disability inclusion through employment. It’s a chance to exchange experiences with people from around the world and deepen meaningful relationships within the GBDN network — which we proudly represent in Poland. And yes, we came back full of new inspiration!

But we also came to inspire...

We presented our latest report: “Say YES to disability,” which highlights the essential role of reasonable accommodations in building inclusive workplaces. The report was received with great enthusiasm, especially for its potential global impact. Agata Robińska (she/her) shared its key findings during a powerful panel session.

It’s incredible to see how many amazing leaders from across the world are driving real progress towards a more inclusive labour market. And how strongly they resonate with the idea behind our report: “Equal doesn’t mean the same.”

Seeing these positive global changes — on such a meaningful day — was a truly special experience.

A heartfelt thank you to the organisers, participants, companies, and organisations. Thank you for saying YES! ❤️
