Education and Recruitment: The Recipe for Inclusion at Beiersdorf Poland

We all know NIVEA cream, but we had the opportunity to meet and support the exceptional team at Beiersdorf Poland, the creators behind it.

While the cream's formula remains a secret – so don't ask :) – we're eager to share our own recipe for including people with disabilities. It combines inclusive education with recruitment. Education + Recruitment = Inclusion. This synergy leads to genuine inclusion through employment.

How does this work in practice at Beiersdorf Poland?

We began our collaboration with an accessibility audit, assessing office spaces and workstations.

Next, we moved to educational activities. We organized the “Two Agathas challenge perspective” event, where employees experienced various disabilities, viewing everyday situations from a different angle. Simultaneously, we conducted the “We say YES” webinar series for the entire team, along with workshops for the HR department and management.

Our educational efforts didn't stop there. Beiersdorf Poland launched a year-long newsletter series, starting with facts and myths about disabilities.

Concurrently, we support the company in inclusive recruitment. The process is tailored to a diverse group of people with disabilities and aligns with the employer's expectations for each role. Our approach combines HR expertise with attentiveness and sensitivity, ensuring candidates have access and support at every recruitment stage.

We've already seen initial successes and continue to recruit. Importantly, thanks to prior educational efforts, new hires join aware teams and enter an accessible work environment.

In the near future, we plan to implement the "Say YES to Declarations" program together. This initiative encourages employees to freely disclose their disabilities. It also supports those interested in obtaining certification through newsletters, webinars, and individual consultations with a PFRON (State Fund for the Rehabilitation of Disabled Persons) expert.
